History of Faculty of Graphic Arts
Development of higher education of graphic artists
The continuous development of higher education of graphic artists in the Republic of Croatia can be traced back to the 1950s when, in 1951, the Graphic Arts Technical School began educating graphic technicians, which was the impetus for the initiative to establish the Graphic Arts High School in Zagreb. . This initiative resulted in the enactment of the Law of Graphic Arts Higher School, where the first generation of students began their studies in 1960. In 1979, the Graphic Arts Higher School became a full member of the University of Zagreb. Since 1982, first as a part-time study, and since 1986 as a full-time study, the Joint Study of Graphic Technology has been operating, which, in addition to the education of graphic engineers, also begins the education of graduate graphic technology engineers.
On this basis, the Faculty of Graphic Arts was founded in 1990, whose main activity is the education of graphic engineers and graduate engineers of graphic technology, and since 2000 the first postgraduate scientific study of Graphic Engineering has been operating.
